Get the chance to have a closer and more honest look about the local community, by becoming a volunteer while doing your travel journey to the Island of Gods. Take part in helping the children and young mothers in need by joining our voluntary program at Bali Mother & Baby House, located in Denpasar, Bali. This safe house is founded by Yayasan Sahabat Anak Bali and supported by our colleague Yulia Sukanta.
In Indonesia, there is still a large number of women and teenagers with minimum knowledge on their reproduction system and prevention. Specifically in Bali, non-education seems to be one of the main reasons for the high number of babies being abandoned.
Often these babies are founded already dead, or in the rivers, irrigation channels or garbage. Sometimes they are the product of an unwanted pregnancy, early age of the parents, rape, or sometimes they are born deformed, disable or under extreme poverty conditions.
The aim of Yayasan Sahabat Anak Bali, is providing continued education to young women and teens. With the intention of helping them to prevent unwanted pregnancy before marriage and to encourage desperate mothers who are about to surrender giving away their babies providing a warm and safe environment for the babies.
As volunteer, you will be involved in any aspect needed, from interacting, playing, or studying with the kids, to helping the organization with the operation and or logistic stuff. You are required to commit for at least one week (7 nights) for this program. All educational backgrounds are welcome, and you may make a booking anytime of the year.
