This regency was the home of great warriors that still celebrate the Perang Dawa (war of the gods) every other year at full moon of the fourth month to honor their ancient heroes.

One of the most attractive features of the east coast is its relaxed atmosphere and pristine water that has abundant marine life attracting divers from all around the world. Many professional diving centers following international safety standards offer a great chance for skilled divers to discover the breathtaking underwater scenery. Also, for those with no experience have the opportunity to get their PADI certificate within just a few days.

Snorkeling is another way to discover the sea life that is accessible from various locations throughout the coast. It can be combined with a sightseeing trip on a traditional fishing boat where you can enjoy unique views of the littoral. There is a wide assortment of beaches from calm waters ideal for swimming to great waves perfect for skilled surfers. One of the best beaches in Bali, Pantai Perasi, is located in this region, just a few minutes from Candidasa.
